PUPPIES!!! - Merlin and Tinkerbelle (Dreamcatcher Acquittal) have had a litter - see HERE for details
If you are looking for a worthwhile charity to support, (as well as SHWA(UK) of course) you could not possibly do better than the awesome Starlight Childrens Foundation. Starlight works with seriously and terminally ill children throughout the UK - providing activities, events and support for these children and their families. We are incredibly proud to have been working with them over the past couple of years and we continued this work on 5th July by bringing our huskies to the Starlight Wishing Party in the City of London. 450 very poorly children, plus their parents, carers and brothers & sisters came along. As always it was a wonderful event and on this occasion we were also helped out by our friend Anita Holliday and her Leonberger Bella. The children got to know the dogs, groomed them and had free photos of themselves with the dogs to take home with them. It was a brilliant day and we are very much looking forward to the next Starlight event - the Flying Day at Popham Airfield in August!!!!
Charity Christmas Single We
spent a cold day in Kent in late November with some of our huskies, helping to
make a Charity Christmas Single. The single is "Don't Stop Believing"
by G*Mania and all the artistes (including Asti and Diva) gave their time free.
All the proceeds from the single are going to the awesome Shooting Star
Children's Hospice.
It is with deep sorrow that I have to report the sudden, unexpected death of a great friend of SHWA(UK) and a personal friend of ours - Nigel Holliday. Nigel and his wife Anita run Lionslord Pet Nutrition and have been great supporters of the association over the past three years by providing us with subsidised food, and excellent nutritional advice. Nigel's funeral was held last Wednesday (22nd September) and was attended by almost 200 friends from all over the world. SHWA presented Anita with two portraits of Nigel as a token of our respect and fondness. Nigel's funeral procession was given a guard of honour made up of dogs from his chosen breed (Leonbergers) although we also had Mya - A rescue Sibe - in pride of place representing SHWA and all the dogs that Nigel and Anita have enabled us to help. Our thoughts are with Anita, Steph, Tyler and Sam Much loved - much missed - Always remembered
29th June 2010 - Today we had the privilege of attending the Starlight Wishing Party in the City of London. The party was for 500 seriously and terminally ill children and this year they asked us to bring some of our dogs along to meet the children. It was both a sobering and inspirational experience for our family and friends who attended. 3rd September 2009 - visit the new Dreamcatcher Facebook Page HERE 8th July 2009 - It is with deep sadness that we report the death of our friend Pandora, owner of Asti and Kira. Pan finally fell asleep early this morning. Her partner Alison, her best friend Colin and Terry were with her at the end. We love you Pan - the world will be a less bright place without you. Asti and Kira will meet you again at Rainbow Bridge in the future. May 2009 - Our friend Philippa has a litter of puppies sired by our Ute (U'Two of Baker Lake) to her Amber - Wolfspirit Amber Flame. The pups are gorgeous. 2nd February 2009 - We have had a sled for 15 years, but never, until today, had the opportunity to use it for anything but photographs. We woke up to 8 inches of snow and quickly took the dogs and the sled over to our local park, where we ended up giving some of the local kids sled rides.
December 25th - Happy Christmas one and all! Despite the credit crunch, the recession and everything else, we hope you manage to have a happy Christmas and a great New Year in 2009. We started our Christmas Day in traditional (mushing) style - up before first light and off to the forest with our friends Stuart and Gemma who were staying with us over Christmas, harness up the dogs and off for a Christmas run. Then back to the vans for the traditional Swinley Forest musher's Xmas breakfast complete with mulled wine, Bucks Fizz and lots of food. November 9th - We entered our first Rally in 8 years at Buttersteep Rise near Bracknell. The trail was awful - flooded in places and covered in thick rutted black mud in others. The dogs were fine but I was seriously knackered. I ran Ute, Merlin and Tovick. Gus ran with our friend Ronnie and his Malamute bitch, and Anya and Chrystelle went round the course with our friend Stuart in the courtesy class at the end of the day. For more pictures of the day, click here October 8th - Chrystelle (Dreamcatcher Prosecuter), owned by Toni Gilman, took part in the national final of the prestigious Petplan Junior Stakes. Thirty Two dogs/bitches competed for the title. Chrystelle was one of the youngest dogs in the competition and did really well. October 7th - Catalina (Dreamcatcher of Silverlight) arrived today after being graded excellent at the Euro Dog Show in Budapest where, although she is still a puppy, she was placed 4th in a big (32 dogs) Junior Class. She is as beautiful as we had hoped she would be! Thanks Dana for letting us have this gorgeous girl and huge thanks to our friends Nigel and Anita (Lionslord Leonbergers) for bringing her home for us!! September 27th - Just back from our first ever holiday without kids or dogs! Five days alone in beautiful Cornwall! We stayed in a remote, romantic cottage and had the most wonderful time! June 22nd - Blackpool Championship Show - Dreamcatcher Siberian Huskies had a successful day with all 10 Dreamcatcher (or Dreamcatcher-related) dogs entered getting placed. Pride of place went to Ute who won Open Dog and went home with the dog CC (his 2nd - just one more for his UK Championship!) and Chrystelle - Dreamcatcher The Prosecutor owned by Toni Gillman, who took the Reserve Bitch CC at only 15 months. The day was marred by the weather and the fact that the show was abandoned due to the dangerous condition of some of the marquees due to the high winds. Luckily for us, Sibe judging was completed before the show was abandoned and we got away safely. June 15th - Ute went Best In Show again!!! This was his 3rd Open Show BIS this year! May 30th - Happy Birthday Terry - Love you now and forever!
